Why Use GPOPS?

There are many reasons that one might want to use GPOPS.

  • Users who do not have access to commercially available optimal control software.
  • Users who want the source code so that they can more easily debug their programs or customize the inputs and outputs.
  • Users who want to do research (both academic and non-academic) and need a software program to help generate their results.

With the exception of MATLAB, GPOPS does not require the purchase of any commercial third-party software or libraries. GPOPS can be run on any platform for which a version of MATLAB exists (e.g., Windows, Mac OS X, Linux).
